Interviews and other Videos showcasing some work inside and outside the classroom
My interview regarding education in general and world language education broadcast on the local cable access channel. This was recorded in August 2012, when I was a candidate for Sacramento County Teacher of the Year. I was later named Sacramento County Teacher of the Year and one of 12 Finalists for California State Teacher of the Year.
A video inservice I provided to my district on the use of Google tools in education in 2013.
My successful video application to the Google Teacher Academy, 2012. I conceived, created, edited and narrated this video and was selected as one of 30 teachers worldwide (and only 15 outside of Great Britain) to participate in the London Google Teachers Academy (out of hundreds of applicants)
French 4/AP working with authentic documents regarding food waste. We are a BYOD environment ("bring your own device") and students in my classes use their cell phones for research, audio/visual activities and as a language tool (primarily with wordreference.com). Here, there are using cell phones to access documents I have placed on their class Web site and using the information from several documents to create their own infographics on food waste. Many also used wordreference.com to refine their language choices for their infographics. The video opens with a discussion of what actions their families already take to reduce food waste.
Several small clips edited together showing some ways technology (especially Interactive White Board used until Spring 2014) is used for instruction, practice and formative assessment.
Delivering a presentation on the World Languages 21st Century Skills Map at the California Language Teachers' Association Conference, 2012

Breaking down the classroom walls
These photos show just some of the ways my students are exploring language and culture outside of the classroom.
See more samples of student work!
The samples below include work from Le Petit Prince novel, work with the countries of the French-speaking world, French 1 peer-editing each others' writing samples, French 1 writing about the people they admire, and a collage of a photo from a visit by French teenagers speaking to my students in groups and the reflections of my French 1 students on the experience of talking with native speakers.
Some of the photos also showcase our sharing of work via hashtags that will attract native-speaker audiences around the world.
